Why Kissing Is Really Good For You

The health benefits of kissing.

Kissing is an intimate moment between two individuals.

It helps you feel each other, touch each other, hear each other and even see each other even though you have your eyes closed.

It’s also a good facial exercise

   1. Smooching Strengthens Your Jaw :

Most people may want to have a well-toned body and face, but not everyone is a natural. That doesn’t mean that you can’t have these assets.

Just like a well-toned body needs lots of exercise, a well-toned face needs a lot of make out sessions.

The act of kissing involves around 30 muscles in your face and can help tighten your cheeks.

you got that right, kissing your partner can help you get a well-toned face.

   2. Kissing Helps You Burn Calories :

When you are doing something that involves about 30 muscles, you definitely lose a lot of calories.

How much?

About 2 to 6 every minute.

If you’re really worried about your calories then grab onto your love and don't let go of them for 30 to 45 minutes.

This will help you lose the calories you gained from eating that Death By Chocolate Cake.

Keep at it and you might not have to be worried about your weight. Of course, if you are consuming more calories than you can burn then you might have a problem.

Let me explain how it works, imagine your body is like a train that runs on coal and think of coal as calories.

An average active human body is like a running train and needs more than 2,000 calories everyday. However, if the train is not running then the engine may not be able to burn up all the extra coal.

Similarly, when you are not as active but are consuming a lot of calories, you may not be able to burn the excessive amount of calories in your body.

   3. Kissing Boosts Immunity :

A recent study has concluded that kissing can boost immunity, especially in women.

Now, you might be asking how do I know this, after all I am an ancient Greek Goddess.

How am I supposed to know so much about the modern world?

Well, sorry to disappoint you but I am well-read and I like to keep myself updated with the latest happenings in the world.

There is a Virus by the name, Cytomegalovirus, which lies dormant in the human body and may cause complications during pregnancy.

It can also destroy a person's immune system for good. When you kiss your partner, you help them build immunity against this monster.

So to both women and men, remember to shower your female partners with some love everyday. Speaking of love.

   4. It Helps You Pick The Best Mate :

Ever heard of Helen Fisher?

She is an anthropologist and this is what she says about kissing, "Much of the cortex is devoted to picking up sensations from around the lips, cheeks, tongue and nose.

Out of the 12 cranial nerves, five of them are picking up the data from around the mouth. It is built to pick up the most sensitive feelings the most intricate tastes and smells, touch and temperature.

And when you're kissing somebody, you can really hear them and see them and feel them.

So kissing is not just kissing. It is a profound advertisement of who you are, what you want and what you can give."

She has even stated that she calls kissing as a "mate assessment tool." Hang on!

She is not the only expert with an opinion.

Gordon Gallup Jr., a professor of evolutionary psychology at the State University of New York has something interesting to say as well, "At the moment of the kiss, there are hard-wired mechanisms that assess health, reproductive status and genetic compatibility.

Therefore, what happens during that first kiss can be a make-or-break proposition."

   5. Kissing Can Help You Relax :

You might be wondering:  “How can locking lips and swapping spits be helpful?”

Well, as we have already mentioned, those are not the only two things that happen when you kiss.

Yes, when you kiss your lips meet and sometimes your tongues do too.

When your tongues swap spit, it increases dopamine in your body, which makes you feel more romantically attached to your partner.

Kissing also increases the levels of oxytocin in your body, which is the natural calming chemical in your body.

This makes us wonder...does kissing also help with lowering your anxiety?

Yes, to some extent… it does.

The chemical component Oxytocin helps to calm your anxiety and make you feel better about yourself.

Kissing also increases the amount of endorphins in your body, which is a feel good chemical.

Endorphins along with oxytocin and dopamine, help you relax.

   6. Kissing Can Help You Reduce Your Blood Pressure :

People with high blood pressure have high levels of cortisol.

Lower the cortisol, lower the blood pressure.

You see...your blood is like a river flowing through your body.

Cortisol is like a blockage that can slow down the river, thus causing the blood pressure to rise.

So, what can a river do?  It can flow harder.

In your case, the heart needs to pump blood at a faster pace.

So, how does help?

Similar to the rest of the body, your lips are also made up of blood vessels.

These blood vessels become dilated when you kiss, the blood gets directed towards the face, away from the rest of the body.

This reduces the demand on the heart and allows it to pump blood at a faster pace. Thus, lowering the blood pressure of your body.

So yeah, the next time you need an excuse to kiss your partner, you can simply say that your blood pressure is really high.

   7. It Delays Signs of Aging :

Did you miss out on applying your night cream before going to bed?

Did you forget to go to the spa for a facial?

Here is one simple solution for you, kiss your partner.

Kissing increases blood flow in your face. This can stimulate collagen production of your skin.

Apart from collagen, it can also stimulate the production of elastin.

These two chemical components are the reason why your skin is so smooth.

There’s actually some instructors who are teaching men and women exercises that can
help their face produce more collagen and elastin.

This is done to decrease the need for face lifting.

Guess what else can do the same?

Yes, a make out session.
